They say life is what you make it and I agree! However, it’s our personal beliefs that make us who we are and therefore dictate what we perceive is possible. If you find yourself dreaming about something that deep down you believe is impossible, then you will have a large list of reasons of why it could never happen. … BUT what if that belief of it being impossible was wrong?
The life section of this blog is philosophical, you will read about things that will make you question “What REALLY is possible!?”
Additionally, life is not just philosophical, our lives are filled with humor, sadness, drama, and success. These are my real life stories,.. but only the ones I think you’d find entertaining!
I love to travel, meet new people, experience new culture(s) and see new things. I decided that this year 2016/17 I’m pursuing my passion of travelling and will be travelling for a year around North America, Europe, and the Caribbean.
I get it, many of you are probably thinking “yeah right” OR “I could never do that because of (fill in the blank).” I was right there with you,… and yet I’m not a stranger to travel. I backpacked Central America for two weeks (This being my most adventurous travel experience,… so far) and I’ve been to a lot of really cool spots in my life.
To travel for a whole year seemed IMPOSSIBLE,… UNTIL I met Superman. Superman (my boyfriend and obviously an alias) has traveled the world for a year at a time, not just once but this next trip will be his FIFTH!
Your next thought might be “How the &%$# do you afford that!?” Well luckily, I’m able to do this because I had very little debt and I had assets. I’m also able to do this because the overall cost of living drops while travelling (IF you do it right). When Superman presented the idea of travelling for a year I was fully on board and began liquidating my assets. Superman has his own formula he uses to finance it, but I’ll just say he is frugal and very conscious about how time equates to money and what he values in life.
I classify Adventure as anything that’s exciting but outside the comfort zone. One person’s idea of adventure might be base jumping off the Twin Falls bridge while another’s idea might be getting a massage for the first time.
Adventure pushes us in new directions. It allows us to explore what’s possible and helps us discover what we are capable of. Had human’s not been adventurous then most likely we’d still be living like hunters and gathers, as we would never of pushed the limits of impossible.
I AM AN ADVENTURESS!! I love trying new things and have had more adventurous experiences than many write on their bucket lists. I like the adrenaline rush that comes. I still get nervous, I still fall and sometimes not with grace but the point is I DO IT!
Special thanks to my dad as he introduced me to the love in my life, the Wild outdoors. Hence why my particular brand of adventure is outdoor based such as canyoneering, hiking, camping, scuba diving, skydiving, mountain biking, kayaking, sailing and much much more…. although I’m always down for a massage or an urban adventure too!
Hi, my name is Terah Rae. I love writing, adventure and photography so a blog is my perfect outlet. I’m writing this blog for family and friends to keep tabs on me as I travel. I’m also writing to give people a new perspective and to encourage others to go after their own dreams.
I am an Adventuress and have done many things in my life. This year I am taking a year to travel. Click here for The Travel Plan.
My story is I use to do above and beyond of what was expected and what I should do. I bought my first house at 23 and I worked the 9-5 or actually more like 7 -7 to pay for it. It took a while but I finally realized life was passing me by too quickly and regret was creeping in. I wasn’t doing things I loved and I wasn’t happy.
I over corrected, quit my job and lived where every week I was out having some kind of adventure. However, I quickly realized that too was stressful as it was not financially feasible.
The question is: How do you find balance of time for things you love and finances? I am still figuring that out, but I will say I would not be able to travel this year without liquidating assets and living frugally.
I can’t introduce myself without introducing my favorite person in the world, Todd!! He is the love of my life and my inspiration for this trip! Before I met Todd, I would have thought travelling for a year was impossible. This year will be Todd’s fifth time doing this and the first time he’s doing this with a partner.
I thought I was a deep thinker and adventurous but this guy gives me perspective and has introduced me to adventures that have put me outside my comfort zone. He makes me laugh, tells me I’m beautiful and on occasion even pisses me off but then that goes both ways. I’m very excited to share this adventure with my best friend, Todd.
